Cutting of graduating players Vote

When should teams be required to cut graduates?

Before season's end to allow all transfers three weeks to decide their team?

Once new season starts before the first Free Agency spin occurs giving transfers two weeks of free agency but allowing teams cap relief on the longer contracts?

Fair enough. I'm backing cut before end of season then :)

The bright side to that would be: They would get stuck with the Dead Cap for not doing what they are "supposed" to do anyway. We already know that we can survive one day of FA without the high profile recruit.
A decent way to punish ppl for not following the guidelines they already agreed to follow.

Somebody will remind them after day 1 of FA. ;)

I start looking at what players have lost from 9 years on and decide to let them go or not. I don't
care for the idea of having to cut to benefit another team if our team is in need of that player. I
don't think I could ever give big money for a player in his 11 or 12 season, that is the old seeping out of me!

Yeah but I am talking about releasing the 11yr players. Those two teams wouldn't have to cut them until the EOS spin. So they suffer no impact from the cap. It would reflect the following season. And the rest of the teams would suffer in the current season with cap issues from releasing those players.

Does cutting a player at the EOS work that way? I didn't think it did, but I've never tried it. I assumed that the penalty for the first season would be essentially discarded and the rest of the penalty would be put on the next season. I think this because offering a 5-year contract at the EOS effectively makes it a 4-year contract.

It's not discarded because I tried to cut someone from another league who is in the playoffs and it said that 5 million would be counted against this season's cap and something like 8 million for next seasons cap. So you would take a hit on the current season. And if your salary cap is to the max (some, including myself, like to spend every last penny) , then you will be put into salary cap purgatory the current season you are in. Only way you wouldn't be is if you were allowed to cut them on the very last sim of the season.
