Close enough. At least the word is spelled correctly. Even if it is the wrong word. :)

UCLA End of Season Press Conference

Press Coach Jones are you disappointed with the season the Bruins had this season?

Coach Jones Slow your roll boy, we just finish our last game with the Black Knights of Army. Give me a chance to reflect on that before you get into that question.

Let me say congrats to the Utes for winning the division and to all the teams that made it to the bowl games. Dang nab it I am still having nightmares about that goalline Play Action Tight End Drag. ****Laughs****

Well a solid performance by the kids tonight. Would like to have ended the season with a victory but we are building something here and you know what they say Rome was not build in a day.

Now to your stupid question. What do you think? Of course WE are disappointed in our season.

Press Were injuries to blame on the poor season?

Coach Jones Injuries are part of the game and yes we had a lot of them. But the players rallied around one another and played their hearts out. Maybe towards the end they ran out of gas but would I blame injuries. No we played some tough teams and they want to win too.

Press What are going to do about the Quarterback situation?

Coach Jones Now you can stop that now. All our quarterbacks are fine young men and they all want to play. It is up to the coaches to put them in situations that helps them grow and win. Bobby learned a lot this season, Christopher is a solid young man and Jose is in the mix. Whoever takes the bull by the horns will be the starter next season.

Press What will the off season bring?

Coach Jones A lot of work. ****Laughs**** Today Guard Michael Conroy and Defensive End David Honeycutt played their last game for Bruins. Tomorrow they make a very important decision. Continue their education, test their skills at the next level, or begin their journey called life. They were great leaders to our younger players and will be missed. But I know whatever choice they make they will succeed.

Coach Jones With that I have to go I have a plane to catch and y'all have a good night

Day #1 Signee

UCLA landed a huge piece to its this years recruiting class when Defensive Back Luis Peden announced his commitment to the Bruins. Peden is considered one of the top transfer prospect is considered one of the highest-ranked defensive backs in this years recruiting class.

Peden, a 6-foot-1, 221 pound athlete out of Virginia, chose UCLA over Southern California and Utah, among others, but the primary thought was that Peden had been down to UCLA and Alabama. Penden took official visits to only those two schools, and he felt as though he had enough information to make a decision after taking an official visit to UCLA for its game against Utah in December.

Peden is great athlete and will be a great addition to our defensive backfield, said Coach Jones after the signing. When asked if there were any plans to move Peden to corner or linebacker, Coach Jones only said Louis is a great athlete and he will be great wherever he plays, but for now we are happy with him playing safety since that position he feels most comfortable at.

Rodolfo Martinez Commits to UCLA

As Martinez spoke before announcing his college commitment at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, his nephew kept pointing at the Ohio State hat, maybe hinting Martinez would head to the Midwest.

Instead, the versatile Calabasas football standout announced Saturday that he would stay home and commit to UCLA, choosing the Bruins over Ohio State, USC and Washington State.

“At the end of the day, you have to always go where the family is at and go where you’re going to be taken care of,” Martinez said live on NBC from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

As soon as Martinez announced, Bleacher Report also released a video of him celebrating his commitment outside the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.

Martinez rated one of the top players in California and in the nation by 24/7 Sports, is a three-time Daily News All-Area selection and expects to be a defensive back in High School. While at Calabasas the last two years, he also starred as a wide receiver and kick returner, helping the Coyotes win two consecutive CIF Southern Section titles.

Martinez’ family is originally from Pasadena, so not only will he stay close to home, but he also joins big brother Darick Martinez Jr, who also attends UCLA as a grad student.

His decision immediately drew praise on Twitter from current UCLA players, including first-day signee Louis Peden.

“Thank GOD!,” Peden tweeted
