VS

#1 Notre Dame-10, #4 Army-17

A defensive battle between two rivals came down to the inability of Notre Dame's offense to figure out Army's defense. It's like a broken record for Notre Dame in their history as the passing game was horrible. It's not clear if it's the offensive line's problem or if it's the QB but Notre Dame has to regroup and try to figure out some things over the offseason. Overall a successful season led by a very tough defense and a young offense. Winning 15 games and coming one score from getting back to the Title game is quite an accomplishment and the team will use this as a building block in the future.

2018 Notre Dame Transfers

QB Leslie Jacques
Jacques is a mobile play maker that started the last two years in Oregon. He has the mobility and skills to be a very dynamic quarterback but he has to get more accurate. While he comes in as the preseason backup he may see time this season.

RB James Rorie
The Irish are excited about RS sophomore Jame Rorie. A all around talent, Rorie is super athletic for his size and will fit nicely in many different roles for the Irish. While Rorie joins a crowded backfield he has the potential to be the best if he progresses like the staff expect.

LT Alexander Martin
The player the Irish most wanted when they set out on the recruiting trail was tackle Alexander Martin. A former tightend, Martin is athletic and powerful at the point of attack. He will need to get bigger to last on the edge but with some seasoning he could be a dominate lineman for years to come.

The Irish have added another weapon to their arsenal when they selected the dynamic WR Equinemious St. Brown. The only knock on St. Brown is that he's built more like a running back with his 228 lb frame. With a season to work out and get accustomed to the college game the staff at Notre Dame are optimistic that he can shed some pounds and improve his 40 yard dash considerably. With other needs the Irish felt that ESB was just too good to pass up and anytime you can add a playmaker late in the round you have to pull the trigger.

The Irish are proud to announce the signing of Pittsburgh's Josh Lugg. Lugg is as strong as they get and played all over the field as a senior in highschool. With the feet of a fullback or tight end Lugg combines strength and agility that should translate well to the offensive line at the next level. The Irish aren't going to press him into the lineup as a true freshman but are going to let him grow into his role and hopefully become a mainstay.

Lamb is a player that has great potential in many positions on the defensive side of the ball. Asked to put his hand in the dirt in highschool, Notre Dame will start him off at OLB and see if his elite speed can be utilized. He will need some time to get his body right, but could really help out on special teams in his redshirt season. While expectations are mixed, Lamb is a boom or bust type of prospect that only time will tell how he'll turn out.

In one of the biggest surprises in this year's draft the former Premiere League Player of the Year Eden Hazard has decided to try is hand in American Football. After leading Chelsea to two Premiere League Titles in the last three years, the Belgium wizard is going to try to beat out incumbent starting kicker Justin Yoon. Hazard has the potential the be a top tier place kicker if he can figure things out during training camp. A gifted athlete, Hazard may not ever reach expectations but the Irish staff are excited about the gamble. It hasn't been announced if Hazard will leave the world of European Futbol if he makes the Irish squad as his only concern at the moment is preparing for training camp.

AT

Notre Dame-44, Ohio St-0

The Irish started the 2019 season traveling to one of the nation's toughest venues, the Shoe. Ohio St. manhandled the Irish a season ago in the same stadium and showed the nation a blue print on beating Notre Dame. This offseason was dedicated to improving an offense that struggled mightily on the road in big games. The staff dedicated a lot of film study to this matchup in the hopes of exacting some revenge. Not only did QB Brandon Wimbush take it to another level, the defense was in lockdown mode. The Irish outgained the Buckeyes 585 yards to 166. Perhaps the most defining stat was that the Irish were able to slow down preseason All-American DE Jeffery Mahmood. Mahmood destroyed the Irish offense last year with 5 sacks and was held to 0 in this game with only 1 tackle. Great start to a tough two game road trip that includes one of the toughest teams in the nation Arizona. It will be the third time these two teams have met and the first in the desert.

QB Brandon Wimbush (24/41 58.5%, 433 Yards, 4 TD. 1 Int, 117.22 Rating)

CB Shaun Crawford (5 Tckl, 13 ThrownAt, 3 KnockDowns, 30.8 Catch%, 2 Int)

AT

Notre Dame-27, Arizona-3

Two teams that know each other very well having played three times in the last two seasons, Notre Dame has been able to find a way to win each one. In their first trip to Tuscon the Irish ground out another convincing road victory. Led by a menacing defense that picked off Wildcat QB Samuel O'Connor 5 times, Notre Dame played a ball control offense and ran the ball 28 times for 145 yards. Both Julian Love and Eugene Redus had 2 interceptions and kept the clamps on a very explosive Wildcat offense. With the win the Irish move to 2-0 and will head home to South Bend where they will take on division foe Marshall.

WR Quincy Brown (4 rec, 73 yards, 1 TD)

DT Eugene Redus (7 Hurries, 2 Int)

VS

Notre Dame-36, Marshall-0

The Irish have been trying to establish the run and leaning on the nation's most dominant defense and it has been a recipe for success. Gaining 538 yards to Marshall's 136 was about as one sided afair as you will see in a divisional game. The story is not Notre Dame's lack of consistency in the passing game but the 3 total points the defense has allowed through 3 weeks. The first huge test for the d will be in week 4 as the heisman trophy winner James Sherwood comes to South Bend with one of the league's most explosive offenses.

WR Chase Claypool 4 Rec, 154 Yards, 1 TD)

DE Andrew Trumbley (3 Tckl, 9 Hurries, 3 Sacks, 1 safety)

VS

Notre Dame-34, Navy-9

Well it wasn't how the Irish envisioned it but a win is a win. Throwing four first half interceptions that included three in the the endzone really hampered Notre Dame's dominance as the game should have been put away a lot earlier. Both WR's Tony Jones and Chase Claypool had huge days and made life tough on the Navy defensive backs. The Irish's dominance on defense continued as they kept the league's top player James Sherwood in check and allowed only 3 fgs. Through four games the Irish haven't allowed a touchdown and only 12 points. Two huge division wins at home in the books and now the Irish will welcome in a much improved Iowa team as they hope to keep a two game lead in the Independent Divsion.

WR Tony Jones (4 Rec, 154 Yards, 1 TD)

DT Eugene Redus (3 Tackles, 5 Hurries, 3 Sacks)
