VS

Notre Dame-65, California-5

This game got out of hand quickly and can be summed up by the discrepancy in the total yards. Notre Dame wracked up 697 yards compared to Cal's 77. The Golden Bears were winging it all over the field against the Irish's number one strength, pass d. Graduate transfer Donald Vann is enjoying his season in South Bend as he has already equaled his total (5) of sacks from a year ago in only three games. On offense there was a balance that the staff strives for and RB Dexter Williams had a career day with three TD's and over 200 yards rushing. His production was aided by the concussion suffered by starting RB James Rorie. Notre Dame finishes up a three game home stand with their second division game against Marshall.

RB Dexter Williams (20 Rush, 215 Yards, 10.8 Avg, 3 TD)

DT Donald Vann (3 Tckl, 5 Hurries, 3 Sacks)

Notre Dame-41, Marshall-10

The Irish welcomed division foe Marshall to town in a matchup that the Irish have successfully held serve at home over the years. While the offense wasn't lighting up the scoreboard they were able to move the ball against an improving Marshall defense. The story of this game was turnovers as the Irish d caused 7 of them including two strip sacks by DE Andrew Trumbley. The special teams scored for the second week in a row as they forced a fumble on a punt that was returned for a touchdown. Next up is a big road trip to the Big House where the Michigan Wolverines are looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat in week 4.

WR Tony Jones 13 Rec, 207 Yards, 1 TD)

DE Andrew Trumbley (2 Tckl, 11 Hurries, 4 Sacks, 2 FF, 2 FRec)

#1 Notre Dame-32, #6 Michigan-6

It was a big road test for Notre Dame in week 5 traveling to one of the most hostile environments in college football. The 6th ranked Michigan Wolverines were coming off a narrow defeat against Iowa last week and were hoping to slow down the top ranked Fighting Irish. Notre Dame took awhile to get into any rhythm and leaned on their dominant defense for most of the game. Led by running back Dexter Williams the Irish were able to churn out yards on the ground and mixed in some big plays through the air. The story of this game however was fill in MLB Jonathan Jones. In his first start since the 2017 National Championship, Jones was all over the field. Jones compiled two sacks and an interception and really made his mark in place of injured starter Myles Morgan. The Irish defense added three more interceptions to their league leading 15 through 5 games. Next up the Irish will head back to South Bend and welcome in a young and improving Florida Gators team.

WR Chase Claypool (4 rec, 122 yards, 1 TD)

MLB Jonathan Jones (5 Tckl, 2 Sacks, 4 Hurries, 1 Int)

#1 Notre Dame-41, Florida-9

It was a game the Irish didn't want to overlook as the young and talented Florida Gators came to South Bend. Notre Dame established a very successful rush game but saw their passing issues crop up in the second half with turnovers. The defense was stout not allowing a td and forcing 4 turnovers. The Irish lead the nation with a turnover margin of +14 as well as 18 interceptions. CB Julian Love had two picks and DE Dalton Hayes was all over the QB with three sacks. Next up a tough road game in Seattle as the Irish look to knock off another big team Washington.

WR Tony Jones (8 Rec, 183 Yards, 2 TD)

DE Dalton Hayes (3 Tckl, 5 Hurries, 3 Sacks, 1 FF, 1 FRec)

#1 Notre Dame-54, #17 Washington-10

Notre Dame traveled to the Pacific Northwest and put the hurt on the home team. Lead by a balanced attack on offense the Irish moved the ball with ease for most of the game. After taking over the starting running back role Dexter Williams has put up 100+ yards rushing in four of the last five games. The stat that the coaching staff was most excited about was the 0 turnovers. One concern the Irish have is the downhill spiral of kicker Justin Yoon. Missing three more kicks gives him 11 misses for the season and his confidence looks to be shot. Next up the Irish welcome the champion Arizona Wildcats to town for a rematch of last year's Orange Bowl.

RB Dexter Williams (22 Rush, 111 Yards, 5.05 Avg, 2 TD)

WLB Martin Greer (10 Tckl, 1 Hurries, 1 Int)

VS

#1 Notre Dame-69, #2 Arizona-17

Notre Dame's offensive explosion carried on from last week as the Irish poured on the points against the #2 team in the nation. Piling up over 700 yards is a glimpse at what this team can look like when they are firing on all cylinders. Unlike the previous meeting in the Orange Bowl the Irish used a balanced attack to move the ball. The two lead runningbacks for the Irish gained 277 yards on the ground and really opened up the offense. Notre Dame's defense was stellar forcing 4 interceptions and sacking the Arizona QB's 9 times. Next up the Irish have one of their toughest games of the season as they travel to Annapolis to take on James Sherwood and the Navy Midshipmen.

WR Chase Claypool (7 rec, 217 yards, 3 TD)

MLB Myles Morgan (4 Tackles, 4 Hurries, 3 Sacks. 1 Int)

#1 Notre Dame-38, #15 Navy-31

The Irish circled this road game as one of the toughest games of the season and Navy lived up to the hype. Led by a the great James Sherwood Navy were right there all the way to the end in what turned out to be an offensive dominated game. Both teams were relatively balanced and showed that they could move the ball through the air or on the ground. While Notre Dame's defense were in position to make a lot of plays they just couldn't quite find their rhythm. Missed tackles and catches while draping the wr's plagued the Irish defense all game. Getting out of Annapolis with the W is all that matters and moving into a commanding 4 game lead in the Independent conference is a great feeling for this tired and sick staff. Next up is the 0-9 Stanford Cardinals.

WR Chase Claypool (4 rec, 105 yards, 1 TD)

DE Dalton Hayes (5 Tckl, 4 Sacks, 5 Hurries)

#1 Notre Dame-94, Stanford-3

Not a lot to see here except the Notre Dame cheerleaders were last seen in the ice bath after the insane amount of pushups they were doing after each score. Shoutout to Notre Dame's kicker who has drawn a lot of criticism in South Bend this year. He was 5/5 on fg's and 11/11 on extra points giving him the new single game record for most points scored with 26. Next up is a rematch of the 2017 National Championship game as Tennessee comes to down led by last year's Heisman Trophy winner Jonathan Demartini.

WR Tony Jones (12 Rec, 334 Yards, 4 TD)

CB Julian Love (7 Tckl, 19 ThrwnAt, 2 KnckDwns, 36.8 CthAll%, 2 Int)

#1 Notre Dame-31, #2 Tennessee-27

In the second #1 vs. #2 contest in recent weeks for the Irish it was a game that lived up to the weekend hype. Tennessee moved the ball through the air with ease and the Irish offense was doing their best to keep pace. A game that was back and forth throughout was really broke open by a miraculous kick return TD by RB C.J. Holmes. https://ncaa-football.myfootballnow.com/watch/1145#216639 In the end the Irish are thankful to hold on to the win and keep their unbeaten streak alive. Next up the Irish will travel to Marshall to take on the Thundering Herd.

#1 Notre Dame-51, #17 Marshall-6

After winning a close battle last week the Fighting Irish jumped out of the gate and never eased off the gas this week at Marshall. The offense was humming with 640 net yards while the defense held the Thundering Herd to just 2 field goals. It wasn't all smiles after the game as the team's trainer informed the coaches that standout RT Alex Bars may be lost for the season. It's the second starting tackle to go down with a serious injury and leaves the team's offensive line really thin down the stretch. With the win the Irish win their 4th straight Independent Conference Title. Next up Notre Dame will fly to Eugene to take on a resurgent Duck's team.

QB Brandon Wimbush 14/18 77.8%, 274 Yards, 4 TD. 0 Int, 158.33 Rating)
